Polish climber on Broad Peak suffers accident, breaks leg after being hit by avalanche

A tragic incident has taken place on the world’s 12th highest peak, Broad Peak (8,051 meters) in Gilgit-Baltistan, where a Polish climber was seriously injured after being hit by an avalanche.

The injured climber has a broken leg and has been stranded at the 6,500-meter high Camp 3 of Broad Peak for the past 24 hours. The affected climber belongs to Poland and was on an expedition to summit Broad Peak with a three-member foreign team.

Immediate medical assistance could not be provided to the climber after the accident, as the high altitude and harsh weather have made the rescue operation difficult. Local administration and rescue agencies are monitoring the situation and preparations are being made for a rescue operation.

According to sources, other fellow climbers present at Camp 3 have contacted and requested assistance, however, due to difficult routes and snowfall, immediate access was not possible.

It should be noted that Broad Peak is located in Pakistan's beautiful but dangerous Karakoram mountain range, where dozens of foreign mountaineers come every year for adventure. Officials say that all possible measures are being taken to bring the affected mountaineer down safely.
