Eventually the spirit of protecting the mountain softened and in 1953 the peak was climbed by Hermann Bohler, a German mountaineer from Austria. Thus, the eighth highest peak in the world finally came to an end and fell into the tunnel of human determination. This mountain is a favorite mountain of Germans and Japanese. The majority of those killed in the attack were Germans and Japanese.
